West Ham United – Farewell Boleyn

10th May 2016

On Tuesday 10th May 2016 West Ham United said farewell to their famous Boleyn Ground, the place that they called home for the previous 112 years. This historic occasion was marked with a celebration of the stadium and a host of former players that was to follow the final match against Manchester United. After the final whistle the floodlights were killed and Pains pyrotechnics and special effects lit up the stadium in a spectacular opening sequence. 20 G-Flames danced and pulsed along each touchline and 36 pyrotechnic positions produced a stunning rooftop show that was choreographed to Twist & Shout, a song synonymous with West Ham and their fans. As an image of Bobby Moore turned out the lights at the Boleyn for the last time plumes of claret and blue confetti filled the stadium in what was a fitting tribute to this historic footballing venue.
