Pains complete hugely successful 2007 Rod Stewart Stadium Tour

Rod Steward

Pains are delighted to have completed 12 enormously popular concerts on the Rod Stewart Tour and were glad that everything went off with a bang!

The tour began in Newcastle on June 25th  with a concert at St James’s Park. From there, the tour moved all around the UK, including Twickenham Stadium, Glasgow’s Hampden Park, The Millenium Stadium & The City of Manchester Stadium.

The European leg of the tour saw Rod taking in the delights of The Royal Dublin Showground, Stockholm in Sweden and Larvic in Norway, the highlight of the tour being a superb concert at the world famous Gdansk Shipyard in Poland.

Attended by the Polish President, Lech Kaczy?ski, the show – part of the ‘Space of Freedom’ series of events whose aim is to commemorate the anniversary of signing the Solidarity Gdansk agreement in 1980 – was delayed by 24 hours due to a national day of mourning following the tragic coach crash in France on 21st July.  But this did not dampen spirits as the crowd were treated to Rod’s great repertoire as well as the customary kicking of autographed footballs into the huge audience and a truly explosive display from Pains.

This was not the first time Pains have worked with Rod Stewart having previously completed Rod’s 2005 UK Christmas Tour, another great success. Major Tom’s Lars Brogaard, the production manager for the whole Rod Stewart Tour, appointed Pains and worked extremely closely with Pains’ Phil Mundy and his team throughout the whole period to make sure that everything ran smoothly!

Pains’ team of technicians worked hard to prepare the shows on site especially given the difficult weather conditions throughout the Tour. With a variety of different displays each night specific to each venue, Pains provided a combination of stage pyro, non-pyro special effects, close proximity pyros and traditional firework displays from the stage, the rooftops and outside the arenas: Phil Mundy agreed with everyone that it was a terrific challenge and experience to design and produce the shows which used the latest Pyrodigital technology.

With the tour completed, Pains are pleased to have worked on such an exciting project and would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved with it!
